Ryan Day Issues Urgent Rallying Cry to Ohio State Fans: Can They Deliver the Loudest Roar Yet?
Ryan Day just wrapped up a whirlwind 14-2 campaign, steering Ohio State to a national championship — yet, somehow, he’s still not catching much shut-eye. You might wonder, with a trophy in hand, wouldn’t a coach finally get some peace? Well, not quite. The looming clash against Texas on August 30th has Day pacing beneath the stadium lights, urging Buckeye fans to crank up the volume like never before — because silence is the enemy of victory in Columbus this fall. Funny how even a title-winning season can’t hush those pre-game jitters, right? Can a coach ever truly relax when the stakes are sky-high? Buckle up: this early-season showdown is set to be a raucous spectacle, amplified further by ESPN’s College GameDay presence. Think Day’s got insomnia now? Just wait until kickoff. LEARN MORE.
Ryan Day is coming off a College Football Playoff national championship season, but he still isn’t sleeping well.
The Ohio State Buckeyes head coach has a good reason for that, though. While Day led the Buckeyes to a 14-2 season in 2024, capped by a four-win College Football Playoff that ended with a win over Notre Dame in the national title game, the job doesn’t get any easier from here.
Day admitted on Monday that Ohio State is set to take on Texas on Saturday, Aug. 30, which is causing him to lose some sleep.
Day made a plea to Ohio State’s fan base on Monday, saying that the Buckeyes’ crowd needs to be as loud as it’s ever been for that Saturday afternoon game against the Texas Longhorns.
“We’ve got to put them on silent cadence, it’s got to be the loudest it’s ever been,” Day said on Monday.
Day admitted that he hasn’t talked to the team about Texas yet. However, he admitted that he isn’t sleeping well.
“No, if we didn’t open up with Texas maybe,” he joked.

It’s going to be a fun one in Columbus later this month, that’s for sure.
Ohio State and Texas are scheduled to kick off at noon E.T. on Saturday, Aug. 30. The game will air live on FOX.
ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be in town, too.
