McVay added that he was a big fan of Rodgers and thought they could succeed with him.
Rodgers waited for months before recently signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which seemed to be the only choice he had left.
He was linked to the Minnesota Vikings, but they reportedly opted not to pursue him to keep building around J.J. McCarthy.
