It’s no secret college football has been trying to eliminate field stormings over the past few years. There are concerns about player safety, especially for the visiting team. Last season, the SEC tried to put an end to this phenomenon by fining schools $100,000 for their first offense. A second offense would result in a $250,000 fine, and any subsequent offenses would cost schools $500,00.
Well, that won’t be the case anymore. Sankey announced Thursday that all fines will cost $500,000 from this point forward.
