Seton Hall Basketball Scores Major Upgrade with Trey Parker Transfer—What This Means for the Team's Championship Hopes

Seton Hall’s backcourt is about to get a fresh jolt of energy—and it’s coming in the form of Trey Parker, a 21-year-old guard making waves after his freshman stint at N.C. State and two solid years in Overtime Elite. This isn’t just any commitment; it’s a strategic move that could shake up the Pirates’ rotation in ways you wouldn’t expect. Parker’s blend of athleticism, sharpshooting, and sneaky defense has already caught plenty of eyes, and with Seton Hall’s current guard-heavy lineup looking to press and push the pace, his “Showtime Trey” persona might just be the spark they’ve been craving. I’m intrigued to see how he’ll fit in, especially with Seton Hall juggling open scholarships and frontcourt size challenges. Buckle up—this season could be a wild ride. LEARN MORE

Here are three things to know about him:Wings (3): Elijah Fisher, Jacob Dar, Joshua RiveraThe Hall has three open scholarships and size up front is obviously a need.

Vs. Stanford: 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and 5 assists

2. He came off the bench at N.C. State

If the Pirates are planning on pressing defensively as a base defense and pushing the ball, which seems likely given their personnel, it could unlock his potential.

3. His nickname is “Showtime Trey”

In his one season with the Wolfpack, Parker appeared in 27 games and averaged 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assist in 12 minutes while shooting 41 percent from the field, .357 from 3-point range and .750 from the free-throw line. His role increased as the season went on. He also earned ACC All-Academic honors.

Seton Hall’s projected 2025-26 depth chart

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Fayetteville, N.C. native was a consensus top-150 recruit coming out of high school when he opted to play in Overtime Elite for two seasons. In 2023-24 he averaged 11.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 steals per game in the junior pro league.

Parker is an elite athlete who came to N.C. State best known for his acrobatic dunks. He’s more of a shooting guard than a point guard, which creates some challenges at 6-foot-1. It will be interesting to see how he fits into a rotation that is almost all guards and wings at this point.Vs. Louisville: 13 points on 5-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and 3 assists.Bigs (2): Godswill Erheriene, Stephon Payne.
