Shocking Early Vegas Odds Reveal Dark Horse Favorite in Michigan vs Oklahoma Showdown
As we shove the NFL season into the rearview mirror, it’s wild to think we’re nearly 200 days out from Michigan’s 2026 kickoff, setting the stage right at home against Western Michigan. Now, hang on — the real buzz is about that Week 2 showdown at the Big House, where Michigan and Oklahoma will lock horns again. Remember last fall in Norman? The Wolverines stumbled, 24-13, with Justice Haynes breaking free on a 75-yard touchdown run that barely dented the scoreboard. This time around, with Kyle Whittingham at the helm, the Wolverines are on a mission to flip the script and pack more punch. Early whispers from the oddsmakers at FanDuel peg Michigan as a slim 1.5-point favorite against a formidable Oklahoma squad that’s still packing heat with quarterback John Mateer and a strong returning roster. Sure, these lines will shift as kickoff draws near, but it’s telling to see Michigan’s stock rising even now. I’m curious — if you had some free cash laying around, who would you throw your chips behind? Dive into that thought while the offseason rolls on. LEARN MORE
Football is officially in the rearview mirror with the conclusion of the NFL season on Sunday, and we are roughly 200 days away from Michigan kicking off its 2026 season at home vs Western Michigan.
But the game the following week at the Big House — a rematch against Oklahoma — is what will grab some of the early-season attention both locally and nationally. Michigan went to Norman in Week 2 last fall and suffered a 24-13 defeat to the Sooners, with its only touchdown of the game coming on a Justice Haynes 75-yard scamper to open the second half.

New head coach Kyle Whittingham and company will be looking to put up more points than that this time around for the Wolverines, and if the early betting odds are any indication, they should be able to do just that. FanDuel released some way-too-early college football betting lines for the early part of the 2026 season, and that includes Michigan vs Oklahoma. As of this writing (Feb. 11), Michigan is a very slight 1.5-point favorite over Oklahoma, with the over/under set at 45.5.
This betting line will certainly change the week before the game, but it’s good to see how the oddsmakers view Michigan early in the offseason — as a team that is capable of beating a high-quality opponent like the Sooners that are coming off a College Football Playoff appearance and returning starting quarterback John Mateer and a good amount of their production from last season.
