Shocking Injury Update Leaves Cowboys' Star Wide Receiver Season in Jeopardy

So here we are again—the Dallas Cowboys waving their flags high, but this time with a shadow cast over their wide receiver depth chart. Jonathan Mingo, a kid with potential buzzing just beneath the surface, took a tumble that has everyone biting their nails. A suspected PCL injury? Ouch. Sure, it’s not your classic ACL heartbreaker, but when the Cowboys start playing roster roulette and praying for an MRI to deliver some good news, you know it’s serious business. How much does one injury shuffle the mojo of a team stacked with talent like Lamb, Pickens, and the gang? And hey, can Mingo bounce back—maybe even faster than we think—or is this just the latest curveball this franchise wasn’t looking for? Either way, it’s a reminder that on any given Sunday, the story on the field can change in a heartbeat.

The Dallas Cowboys got some bad news late on Saturday.

As reported by Todd Archer, Jonathan Mingo could be out for a while.

The team reportedly feels the young wide receiver has suffered an injury to the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in his right knee.

The injury took place during their 31-13 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Mingo jumped to catch a pass near the endzone and landed awkwardly.

He limped his way into the medical tent and was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the game.

While the Cowboys fear he may have suffered a PCL injury, they will still wait until he undergoes an MRI on Sunday.

The Cowboys got Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Carolina Panthers for a 2025 fourth-round pick last season.

He finished the year with just five receptions for 46 yards in eight games, all with Cooper Rush behind center.

He was one of the potential breakout candidates during training camp, and he could’ve legitimately had a role as the Cowboys’ WR3 behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Of course, there’s still a chance that he will be out there for the start of the season, given the extent of the injury.

Unlike what happens with ACL injuries, some PCL tears don’t require surgery.

But with him out, perhaps the team will have to make some tough decisions for their 53-man roster.

They should still be more than set for the season, though, as they already have the aforementioned Lamb and Pickens as well as KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, and Ryan Flournoy there.
