Dieujuste, a former Eastern Florida State College point guard, was reportedly named the suspect in the case. He reportedly spoke to police and claimed that the shooting was out of self-defense.
He was later arrested and charged with manslaughter.
The incident is under investigation.
Matt Moore, the head coach of Jennings’ program, is deeply saddened by the loss.
“Nate was a treasured member of our football team, being honored with all-conference accolades following his first year of collegiate competition,” Moore said, according to WESH 2.
