Shockwaves Pulse: What Keon Coleman’s Thursday Status Reveals Could Change Everything

Isn’t it a curious thing when a player hyped up as the next big thing suddenly becomes a shadow on the sidelines? That’s exactly the puzzle the Buffalo Bills are grappling with as Keon Coleman, their supposed WR1, finds himself inactive again—this time for the Week 12 “Thursday Night Football” showdown against the Houston Texans. You’ve got a second-round pick, a healthy pro, yet here we are, scratching our heads over what exactly is going on both on and off the field. Could it be just rookie jitters, or is there a deeper issue at play in Orchard Park? One thing’s for sure—the Bills’ high-powered offense led by Josh Allen can’t afford to carry dead weight. So, what’s keeping Coleman from stepping up? Let’s dig into the drama behind the scenes and see why the hype is fizzling out faster than anyone expected.

The Buffalo Bills don’t seem to have a true WR1. Keon Coleman was supposed to be that guy, but that hasn’t been the case at all.

Though healthy, the second-year pro was inactive for their Week 11 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, according to analyst Erik Turner, that’s going to be the case again in Week 12 against the Houston Texans on “Thursday Night Football.”

“There’s a lot of questions on what he’s done on the field, the things that he hasn’t been doing properly off the field, and from what I’m told, it’ll be the second game in a row Keon Coleman will be inactive for the Bills,” Turner said.

The team has yet to disclose the details behind this decision. But given how much they hyped him up and the fact that he was a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, there has to be more to this story.

Coleman has failed to take a leap after a disappointing rookie campaign, and it feels like head coach Sean McDermott isn’t satisfied with his effort. It’s one thing to struggle because of the system, growing pains, or transitioning to the NFL, but a questionable work ethic is something a team will not overlook or forgive.

Of course, this is just speculation at this point, and the Bills will probably share information about this situation in due time. For now, it seems like Coleman is going to have to put in a lot of work to get back on the field.

The Bills have arguably the best quarterback in the league. But even Josh Allen can only do so much if he doesn’t get the necessary effort from his teammates.
