Lynch experienced a remarkable journey throughout the 2024 season, bouncing between four different organizations, including three AFC West rivals.

His season began with the Seattle Seahawks in August before he failed to survive final roster cuts.

The linebacker subsequently landed on the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad and saw limited action, participating in 20 special teams plays during their Week 4 defeat against Kansas City.

Following his October release, Lynch joined the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad for approximately one month.

He concluded the season with the Chiefs, recording six tackles in the Week 18 contest versus the Denver Broncos. The undrafted Baylor product certainly experienced a winding professional path.

Whereas, Thompson made his professional debut during Week 18 of the 2023 campaign, registering two tackles in his lone appearance.

His football career faced a devastating setback last June when he suffered a seizure during a team meeting that progressed to cardiac arrest.

While the team has now waived the defensive lineman, Derrick suggests this likely represents a procedural move.

The Chiefs organization remains committed to supporting Thompson through his recovery process, regardless of whether his football career continues.
