Texas A&M’s Surprising Offensive Rankings: Which Key Categories Reveal Hidden Strengths Before the Bye Week?
Texas A&M’s offense is not just showing up this season—they’re commanding every field they’ve stepped onto, racking up 40-plus points in each of their first three battles. That 41-point blitz against Notre Dame on Saturday wasn’t just a win; it was a statement. Collin Klein, in just his sophomore year as offensive coordinator, continues to prove why his hire was a masterstroke, hinting at the Aggies cruising toward a nine or even ten-win season. Now, it’s still early days and many a twist could unfold, but this revamped offense—leaning more on the air game this year with fresh weapons like KC Concepcion and the electric Mario Craver—has started molding Marcel Reed into a bona fide passer, a leap we’ve long anticipated. Reed’s lighting up SEC leaderboards with his passing footage, while Craver’s dominance as a top receiver is making opponents tremble. The rushing attack is stirring too; Le’Veon Moss’s clutch touchdowns in the red zone sealed that near-perfect night for the Aggies. As we stall for a moment during the bye week, let’s dive into the key offensive metrics shaping Texas A&M’s campaign before they host No. 22 Auburn in Week 5.
Texas A&M’s offense has produced three consecutive games with at least 40 points during the first three games, including 41 points during Saturday’s massive win over Notre Dame, which has continued to prove the second-year OC Collin Klein was the right hire, and could be the reason the Aggies win nine, or possibly ten, games this season.
It’s much too early in the season to project where Texas A&M will sit at the end of the season, but compared to last season’s offense, which, thanks to an elite rushing attack, ranked top 3 in the SEC throughout the year, has now geared towards the passing game with the offseason additions of KC Concepcion and Mario Craver helping starting quarterback Marcel Reed take the next step as a pocket passer.
So far, Reed ranks third in the SEC with 869 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and one interception, while Mario Craver, who is coming off his 207-yard performance against the Fighting Irish, leads the country in receiving with 443 yards and four touchdowns on the year.
While the Aggies’ rushing attack is still finding its footing, senior RB Le’Veon Moss delivered three goal-line touchdowns and 80 yards on the ground, as the Aggies were nearly perfect in the red zone on Saturday night.
