AUSTIN, Texas — At the annual Town Hall meeting at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, athletics director Chris Del Conte revealed that the football program will hold a scrimmage to end spring practice on April 18 in concert with a Fan Day.

Del Conte did not reveal specific details about the format of the scrimmage, which may be different than the annual Orange-White game in the past.

Last year, Texas only held a Fan Day as head coach Steve Sarkisian opted against the annual spring-ending scrimmage because of the physical demands of playing in a conference championship game and three College Football Playoff games.

Sarkisian also cited the need for development with a team that Del Conte said averaged 18.5 years old in 2025.

“The development that’s needed for these guys to get ready for the fall is a little bit different than it used to be, so our approach is going to be a little bit more NFL-driven, more of an OTA style early on, and as we grow into more of the scrimmage formats in the second half of spring ball, I just don’t know if rolling the ball out and playing a game if we only get 15 practices is the best for us to maximize the opportunities that we get,” Sarkisian said.

Additionally, Del Conte also revealed that the new football practice facility adjacent to the football stadium and the Moody Center is expected to be completed this summer.
