The Astonishing Fortune Chelsea Could Unlock by Defeating PSG in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Final

Chelsea’s impressive summer campaign in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has brought success both on and off the pitch. With a thrilling run to the final now complete, the West London club is just one win away from lifting the trophy—and cashing in on a financial windfall that dwarfs even Europe’s most prestigious competitions.

But while the soccer world is fixated on whether Chelsea can overcome European giants Paris Saint-Germain in the final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 13, the other pressing question is: just how much could the Blues earn by going all the way?

Under manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s journey through the new-look 32-team Club World Cup has been steady and professional. They dispatched clubs from across the globe and most recently downed Fluminense in the semifinal, thanks to a João Pedro brace that sealed their ticket to the final showdown.

The Blues had already collected millions in prize money prior to that match, having racked up crucial wins in the group stageround of 16, and quarterfinals. By the time they saw off the Brazilian side, Chelsea’s total prize earnings had risen to approximately $101.6 million, with one more match left to push their final figure even higher.

The enormous prize pool

This edition of the Club World Cup—the first in its expanded format and hosted in the United States—boasts a total prize pool of $1 billion, a record-breaking figure for a club competition. Each phase of the tournament offers increased financial rewards, incentivizing teams to go as far as possible.

As reported by The Standard and other UK outlets, “The total prize money one team can earn from winning the competition is $116.8 million (previously $123.2 million) due to currency fluctuations.” However, actual earnings vary depending on performance, progression, and the participation fee, which FIFA awards based on “sporting and commercial criteria.”

  • Group stage wins are worth $1.9 million
  • Group stage draws earn $952,500
  • Advancing from the group: $6.9 million
  • Reaching quarterfinals: $12.1 million
  • Making semifinals: $19.3 million
  • Reaching the final: $27.7 million
  • Winning the final: additional $9.5 million

Should Chelsea defeat PSG in the final, they would receive an additional $9.5 million, taking their total earnings from the tournament to around $111.1 million.
