The Surprising Edge Georgia Holds Over Auburn That Could Change Everything

Saturday night lights will shine fiercely at Jordan-Hare Stadium as the Auburn Tigers host the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs in a showdown that’s anything but ordinary. Despite Auburn’s middling 3-2 record and early SEC losses, this ain’t a walk in the park for Georgia, who carry a solid 4-1 overall but have stumbled within the conference themselves. The stakes are high, the crowd will be electric, and every snap matters when these two battle it out at 7:30 p.m. ET, with ABC bringing all the action straight into your living room. I’ve been watching Georgia claw their way through adversity all season, and this matchup will test their mettle like nothing else. Here’s why the Bulldogs might just pull off a gritty escape from this hostile turf. LEARN MORE

This primetime matchup between the Auburn Tigers and No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs will be a tough game for Georgia to come out on top. Georgia (4-1, 2-1 SEC) plays Auburn (3-2, 0-2 SEC) at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Georgia-Auburn game will be televised on ABC.

Here are some reasons why Georgia can escape Jordan-Hare with a victory.

Faced Adversity Already

Georgia went into Knoxville and was down 21-7 to Tennessee and they did no flinch. Georgia found a way to comeback and win that game. In an environment like Jordan-Hare, the Bulldogs will not face anything that they have gone against or seen before. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton played his best football while being down on the road. He finished the Tennessee game with 304 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 38 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Rushing Game

In tough road environments, a run game will need to be featured early and often. Georgia has that with feature back Chauncey Bowens running the ball very well over the past two games. Also, they have Nate Frazier on the bench to help lighten the load at times for the Bowens. Georgia is averaging 206 rushing yards per game.

Special Teams

The Georgia special teams group has been the Dawgs’ most consistent group this year. Georgia’s special teams has tons of All-SEC players and excels when it comes to specific small details. Georgia has a punter known for flipping the field and a kicker to put points to close out a drive.

Kicker Peyton Woodring and punter Brett Throson are both first-team All-SEC player. Both have been very good this season and have helped Georgia win games.
