Earlier this week, Day revealed that the decision on a starting quarterback would come down to a “two-horse race” between Lincoln Kienholz and Julian Sayin. Day also acknowledged the need to have an established starter for Week 1 against Texas, but noted that he wanted to make the right move for the entire season.
“We’re going to do everything we can to make sure we have the right person in place to go win that first game, and then we’ll go from there,” he said.
