Top 4-Star Point Guard Trey Beamer’s Shocking Commitment Sends Boston College Basketball Into a Frenzy

When a talent like Trey Beamer steps up and commits to Boston College, it’s more than just another name in the recruiting news—it’s a spark of hope for a program craving offensive firepower. This 6’1” dynamo from IMG Academy isn’t your everyday recruit; he’s a 4-star prospect, ranked #86 nationally in the 247 composite. Earl Grant’s squad has grappled with scoring woes for a spell, so landing a player who crafts his own shot and shifts gears effortlessly signals a potential turning point. Now, I’m not suggesting Beamer alone is the magic bullet to haul BC out of the ACC’s lower rungs straight into March Madness glory—but he sure represents a crucial foundation as the Eagles eye a return to respectability. On Friday evening, point guard Trey Beamer announced his commitment to play basketball at Boston College. Beamer, coming out of IMG Academy, is a 4-star recruit in the 247 composite ranking.

Beamer is a 6’1” scoring guard, something that Earl Grant’s program needs more of. Scouts have noted his ability to create his own shot, handle the ball, and change pace with ease. Scoring in general has been a struggle for this team in recent years, so getting a premium level scorer as a top recruit is an incredibly important pick up. Beamer is the #86 recruit in the country, the highest rated commit for the men’s basketball program since 2018 when Jairus Hamilton committed to the program.

Beamer won’t be able to take BC from the basement of the ACC to the NCAA tournament all by himself, but it’s a good start for a program that needs to get back to respectability.
