Top-Ranked QB Jared Curtis Drops Shocking Commitment—College Football World Stunned!

Just when you thought recruiting drama was as unpredictable as one of those NBA playoff Cinderella stories—bam!—Jared Curtis flips the script yet again. The top quarterback prospect for the 2026 class, who once pledged allegiance to Georgia back in March 2024, reopened his recruitment only to circle right back and recommit to the Bulldogs. What’s behind this second coming-around? Turns out, it’s not just about stats or flash—it’s the human connection, the trust built with coaches that can tip the scales in this high-stakes game of decisions. Standing tall at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, Curtis led his Nashville Christian squad to a near-perfect season and a state championship, showing poise and prowess that would make any coach smile. But the real intrigue here: can Curtis outmaneuver second-guessing like some of those flukiest playoff runs, or will this recommitment stick and shape College Football’s next chapter? Only time – and perhaps a few more thrilling twists – will tell.

Jared Curtis, the top quarterback recruit in the 2026 class, is off the board once again.

Curtis, who originally committed to the University of Georgia in March 2024 before reopening his recruitment last October, recommitted to the Bulldogs on Monday afternoon. Curtis picked Georgia for a second time over Oregon.

“Probably the biggest reason is just the relationship with coaches,” Curtis told 247Sports about what went into his decision. “Like, both schools are great, and I had a great connection with both coaches, but just going to Georgia so many times, obviously, they had a little advantage, knowing all their coaches, and getting to reach out to their coaches, and talk to them.”

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Curtis led Nashville (Tenn.) Christian School to a 12-1 record and a Tennessee Division II-A state championship in 2024.

He threw for 2,830 yards, 40 touchdowns and only three interceptions while rushing for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns, earning MaxPreps All-American honors.

Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback and No. 2 overall recruit in the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

“Must keep progressing as a decision-maker and as a full-field reader, but did a much better job at protecting the football as a junior and showed significant improvements in key statistical categories as he captured a Tennessee Division II-A state championship,” said 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins.

“Not one that has had many opportunities to throw alongside other blue-chip quarterbacks due to a series of injuries, but should be viewed as one of the top signal callers in the 2026 cycle and a potential multi-year starter for a College Football Playoff contender that can connect on the deep shots and thrive in a structured environment.”

Curtis is the eighth commitment for Georgia in the 2026 class, which you can view here.
