Trae Young Drops Surprising Truth About His Contract Future — What’s Next Could Shock Fans!

So here we are, caught in this curious little limbo with Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks—a summer that promised a handshake and a contract extension but ended up with a shrug and a whole lot of “we’ll see.” It’s almost like watching a suspense thriller where the lead character is still standing on the edge, unsure if he’ll leap into a long-term deal or take a detour into unknown territory. Young, fresh off yet another season dropping 24 points and dishing out assists like candy on Halloween, admits he’s a bit disappointed—but hey, he’s still young, and the future? Well, that’s anyone’s guess. With the 2025-26 season looming, the big question hanging in the air: Will the Hawks and their star point guard finally find common ground, or is this the calm before a storm that will send Trae packing? It’s a drama worth binge-watching—trust me.

A lot of people believed the Atlanta Hawks and Trae Young would come to an agreement this summer and sign a contract extension.

That didn’t happen, and now the future is a little uncertain for Young.

He’s still with the Hawks, at least for now, but he doesn’t know what is coming down the road.

Speaking about his lack of an extension, Young said he was “disappointed” by it, but is remaining optimistic.

“Whatever happens will happen, if it doesn’t happen I’m still young and who knows what the future holds for me,” Young said.

Everyone will be paying close attention to Young and the Hawks in 2025-26.

If the team does incredibly well, there is a good chance that the two sides will agree to a deal.

Young would be happy to remain in Atlanta, and the team would be glad to give him the sort of salary he deserves.

But if things are rocky in 2025-26, there will be more speculation about what’s next for Young.

If it became time for him to leave the Hawks, a number of teams would leap at the chance to sign him.

Last season, he averaged 24.2 points and a league-high 11.6 assists per game.

Young is one of the best and most celebrated point guards in the league, and he would fetch a big payday from another franchise.

However, just because Young and the Hawks haven’t agreed to a deal yet doesn’t mean they won’t.

A lot can change in the upcoming months, and the two sides may come together and sign on the dotted line.
