Tragic Early Death of Former College Football Star Sparks Outpouring of Prayers—What Really Happened at 31?
A former college football player collapsed and was pronounced dead during the Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday, May 17. The race, which featured close to 30,000 runners, got an early start on Saturday morning. However, one runner collapsed and died during Mile 8 of the race in Brooklyn.
“It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we confirm the passing of one of today’s race participants,” New York Road Runners Chief Communications and Community Coordinator Crystal Howard said.
“On behalf of the whole running community, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.”
