Tragic Mystery Surrounds Sudden Death of Former 5-Star Quarterback Recruit at 49
A former top five-star quarterback recruit died at the age of 49 years old this week.
Tim Strachan was one of the top quarterback recruits in the country entering his senior season at DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland. He had scholarship offers from schools like Penn State and Maryland, among others. But before his senior season, Strachan went on a family vacation to the beach in Delaware. He dove into the surf and was paralyzed.
The former top quarterback recruit would not play a down of football again. He ended up enrolling at the University of Maryland, where he studied communications. Strachan became a sideline reporter and later an in-game analyst for Maryland’s football broadcasts.
