
Tragic Mystery: Talented 16-Year-Old Football Star’s Life Cut Short in Shocking Shooting
A high school football star has died in a “horrific” shooting at the young age of 16.
The Irvington school community announced on Monday, June 30 that a standout high school football player was fatally shot in Newark on June 26. Irvington Schools Superintendent Dr. April Vauss announced the tragic passing on Monday.
Ziyad Cook, 16, was a standout football player at Irvington High School. He was fatally shot in Newark, New Jersey earlier in June. Cook, who wore No. 33 for the school’s football team, was shot just before 6 p.m. in Newark’s West Ward on June 26.
