Unexpected Twist: Jalan Wingfield Seeks Release from Georgia Tech, Shocking Auburn Fans

Wingfield recalled former Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl’s persistence during his recruitment in an interview with Tipton last July.
“Bruce Pearl, he’s at every one of my AAU games. Courtside. Every time he sees me, he acknowledges me, asks me how I’m doing,” Wingfield said. “Tells me Auburn loves me. So, I would say they play a big part, too, also.”
As a high school recruit, Wingfield was the No. 5 player from Georgia and the No. 16 power forward from the 2026 recruiting cycle. It will be interesting to see if Auburn plans to return to the mix for Wingfield, as they need to find worthy replacements for Keyshawn Hall and Keshawn Murphy in the frontcourt for the 2026-27 season.
