Herbstreit grew up in Ohio. His dad coached under Woody Hayes on the Buckeyes. Herbstreit played quarterback at Ohio State in the 1990s. All four of his kids grew up die-hard fans of the Scarlet and Gray.
But in recent years, Herbstreit, who moved out of Ohio in part due to the Buckeyes’ rabid fan base, has begun sounding off on the “lunatic fringe” portion of Buckeye Nation.
Herbstreit ripped Ohio State’s “lunatic fringe” during the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff win over Tennessee back in December.
