Unlock the Shocking Truth Behind the Untold Story You Thought You Knew!

So here we are, staring down the barrel of yet another 76ers quandary — and this one’s a doozy. Remember when Philly signed Joel Embiid to that colossal contract back in 2024? Yeah, well, it turns out hindsight has a way of turning those “slam dunks” into flaky bricks. After a season where Embiid barely cleared 19 games and hasn’t quite shaken the injury bug, the question hanging over everyone’s head is as painful as a missed free throw: did the Sixers just mortgage their future on a player who might never hit full stride again? With four years and a mountain of cash still on the line, Philly’s roster moves are on ice, the clock’s ticking, and fans can’t help but wonder if this gamble is destined to haunt them for years. Buckle up—this saga’s far from over.

Things have not been going well for the Philadelphia 76ers, and their plans have repeatedly been thrown out the window.

Choices they made a year ago now seem ill-advised.

According to Brett Siegel, via Fullcourtpress, an Eastern Conference executive says the 76ers are “regretting their decision” to extend Joel Embiid’s contract in 2024.

That isn’t surprising given the last few months of Embiid’s output.

He only played in 19 games last season, and while he averaged 23.8 points and 8.2 rebounds during that time, it was clear that he wasn’t even close to 100 percent.

That was bad enough, but it followed years of Embiid suffering similar injuries.

And now, even months after the end of the season, Embiid is still reportedly in bed shape and may miss at least the start of 2025-26.

The outlook around him is so bad that some people are openly asking if Embiid will ever be fully healthy again.

Embiid has four more years on his contract and is owed more than $55 million next season.

And that is the cheapest year of his deal, because he is owed $57 million, $62 million, and $67 million in the years after.

The 76ers are on the hook for a lot of money, and Embiid may not be worth it.

A year ago, hopes were high and people thought he’d get in good shape and would be worth every single penny.

Now the Sixers are concerned that he might not play this season, or perhaps ever again.

Because of how much they owe Embiid, the 76ers are in a tough spot and can’t make many other roster adjustments.

This situation needs to be cleared up soon because it’s brought Philadelphia to a halt.
