The Tennessee Titans have been looking for a star at quarterback for a while.

Ryan Tannehill was their last notable starter, but he was never a top-tier QB.

That’s why, after Will Levis failed miserably, they used the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Cam Ward.

So far, however, the results haven’t been much better.

While plenty of that has to do with poor coaching and a weak supporting cast, Ward’s decision-making has also left plenty to be desired, as shown by one troubling stat.

Granted, sacks aren’t always the quarterback’s fault, but many of Ward’s could’ve been avoided.

His tendency to hold the ball too long was a major concern in college, and he has done little to fix it as a pro.

Of course, that is something that can be coached and developed, and he’s only made eight NFL starts.

Giving up on a rookie quarterback too soon isn’t a good idea, especially one who lost his first head coach so early in his career.

Ward needs to be held accountable and to be better.

But it’s not like the Titans were one player away from a turnaround, and they need to be patient with him and find the right head coach to develop him into the franchise QB they need.
