According to Stefan Brody, Dennis Smith Jr. is working out for the Knicks this week.

Smith was recently playing overseas with Real Madrid, but he is looking to make a return to the NBA, and the Knicks could be a great place for him.

As mentioned, Smith was with Real Madrid last season, but he left the team early because of an injury.

Therefore, it’s as if he has had a year off from playing basketball entirely, which could hurt his chances of returning to the Knicks.

New York isn’t only working out Smith, but they have some choices to make.

They can have as many as 21 players when training camp kicks off soon, but they currently have just 12 on guaranteed contracts.

But because of cap space, they only have space to keep one more veteran player for the regular season, so if they go with Smith, he will be their final selection.

Of course, they could also trade away some talent in order to free up space.

Smith got his NBA start with the Dallas Mavericks before moving on to the Knicks, but things never took off in New York like he wanted.

Injuries started to flare up, a problem that has unfortunately remained consistent over the years.

After that, Smith spent some time with the Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, and Brooklyn Nets before he headed overseas.
