One of Ottawa’s biggest issues last season was a wretched third pair. No matter what combination of Tyler Kleven, Nikolas Matinpalo and Travis Hamonic was out there, things did not go well. The addition of Jordan Spence helps alleviate that. He’s someone with a proven ability to crush sheltered minutes. Some may scoff at the idea of a third-pair powerhouse, but the Senators weren’t getting anything close to what Spence can offer in the same role.
