Noah Dobson — even if he’s not exactly beloved by those on Long Island — is a big loss. While he’s probably not as good as his 2023-24 breakout, he’s probably also not as bad as he looked in 2024-25 (though the numbers don’t exactly agree with that sentiment either). He’s a top-pair defenseman and any team losing that is going to take a big hit. Until Matthew Schaefer arrives, the Islanders’ defense corps is going to be a lot worse.
