Urban Meyer Sparks Controversy by Doubling Down on Unapologetic Religious Beliefs—What He Said Next Will Shock You
The former Ohio State Buckeyes head coach was a guest speaker at a religious event in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend. Meyer, who coached at Ohio State from 2012-18 – winning the 2014 national championship – was a guest panelist at a Life Surge event. Life Surge is a gathering event for local Christians in which people are encouraged to be “inspired, trained, and equipped to leave an impact on God’s Kingdom.”
Meyer was joined on stage by Kirk Herbstreit and several other members of the Ohio State football community. The three-time national title-winning head coach made it clear where he stood on religion, even as the head coach of the Buckeyes football program for seven years.
