Last year, the Commodores notched their first winning season in a decade by going 7-6. Vanderbilt stunned Alabama and won their first bowl game since the James Franklin era. 

That success has Pavia feeling confident entering the 2025 season. The starting quarterback made some lofty claims on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast.

“Vanderbilt is going to run Tennessee after this year,” Pavia said. This is going to be the new staple of college football. It’s going to happen here at Vanderbilt.”

College football fans don’t quite share his optimism. Many felt Pavia overreached by predicting a future in which the Commodores would surpass the Volunteers as the state’s premier college football program.
