When Will the 2025 College Football Playoff Rankings Drop? Key Dates That Could Change Everything Revealed!

No, the only rankings that matter are those that come from the College Football Playoff committee on the back-end of the season, once we’ve all witnessed enough games and moments to have a better feel for which teams are truly worthy of having a number next to their name.

That’s right. Sit back, enjoy the season for what it’s worth, then come back in November when things really start to matter as the CFP Committee begins to sort the puzzle of a 12-team College Football Playoff out. One in which we hope to see Ohio State making a run at defending its CFP title.Every year, as college football gears up to storm the fields, I find myself shaking my head at one stubborn truth: those preseason rankings? They’re about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Sure, Ohio State has snagged plenty of early kudos in the Coaches and AP polls — no surprise there — but come on, we all know the real scoreboard doesn’t start ticking until the College Football Playoff committee steps in, well past the first whistle of the season. That’s when all the flashes and hype settle, and the committee starts cutting through the noise, deciding who truly deserves a spot in the new 12-team playoff dance. So, if you’re like me and you thrive on the drama that comes with the wait and watch game, mark these 2024 CFP ranking dates on your calendar. Because that’s when things really heat up, and debate turns into destiny. Ohio State fans, keep your fingers crossed — a title defense is on the line, and the race is about to get wild. So, for your reading and consumption, and for future reference, here are the dates of the CFP Rankings this year.

As the college football season nears, here’s the annual reminder that the preseason rankings don’t matter one bit — even though Ohio State has received a ton of respect in both the US LBM Coaches and AP Polls in the preseason.
