Why Arch Manning's 'Disrespectful' Snub on Monday Could Change Everything

Ever notice how legacy sometimes feels like both a blessing and a burden? That’s the tightrope Arch Manning’s been tiptoeing — poised to take the reins as Texas’s starting quarterback in 2025, carrying not just a playbook but the weighty Manning name. Yet, despite the buzz around Arch being a potential No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick, one respected voice, former Alabama QB Greg McElroy, surprisingly left him outside his top 10 preseason college quarterbacks. Ouch, right? It’s a curious snub that’s sparking a frenzy among fans, many of whom can’t wrap their heads around rankings that swing from hype to erasure. Arch hasn’t truly had his moment under full pressure yet, but the 2025 season might just answer whether the prodigy can rewrite the hype—or if those rankings are more prescient than we like to admit. So, is this just first-year starter skepticism, or is there something deeper brewing beneath the surface of college football’s hottest QB debate? LEARN MORE.

Eli Manning’s Advice For Arch Manning (0:21)

Arch Manning faced a disrespectful snub on Monday.

The Texas Longhorns quarterback is set to take over as the starter in Austin in 2025. Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, is a former top recruit. He will be taking over as the starting quarterback for Steve Sarkisian’s program in 2025.

Many believe that it’ll be Arch Manning’s lone season as the team’s starter. He could be off to the 2026 NFL Draft next spring. Some believe he could be the No. 1 overall prospect.

However, one college football analyst doesn’t have Arch Manning as a top 10 quarterback in the country in 2025.

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy has Manning outside of his Top 10 rankings heading into the 2025 season.

“It’s very hard for me to ever justify putting a first-year starter ahead of guys that have actually done it when the bullets are flying,” he said.

Still, college football fans remain surprised.

“No Arch is more offensive than having him No. 1,” one fan wrote.

“I very much disagree, in fact,” one fan added.

“Man yall can pay me way less for better opinions,” one fan added.

“What am I looking at here?” one fan added.

“There are QB lists I’ve seen that have Arch Manning at 1, and others with him, like this, left completely off,” one fan added.

Arch Manning hasn’t really proven anything yet, but he’ll get the chance to do so during the 2025 season.
