The fact of the matter is that college football teams have largely wizened up to the idea that having compelling games on their schedule isn’t important anymore. The most important thing to do in order to reach the College Football Playoff is farm wins against easier opposition.
Right now, the Big Ten is a little top-heavy with only three or four really good teams each year. The SEC, on the other hand, has about double that.
CBS may have picked a rough time to abandon the SEC for the Big Ten.
