Why Experts Are Quietly Questioning Trevor Lawrence’s True Potential

Trevor Lawrence just dashed into the end zone for his second touchdown of the night, sealing a statement win for the Jaguars against the Chiefs—but does that last-minute heroics mask deeper flaws, or is this just the rollercoaster ride we’ve come to expect from a young QB still finding his groove? Honestly, watching Lawrence’s final drive was like witnessing a bizarre magic trick gone wrong—you’re cringing, you’re hoping, and then, somehow, touchdown. Yet, not everyone’s buying the hype. Steve Fezzik, on the Ross Tucker Podcast, didn’t mince words, calling that clutch finish a “train wreck.” With a hefty contract, a fresh coaching staff, and a loaded lineup ready to explode, the question isn’t just can Lawrence win games—it’s can he quiet the doubters who’ve tracked every stumble and turnover since day one? The Jaguars are 4-1, and while the numbers say progress, the doubt still lingers. So, can Trevor finally step up and prove he’s worth every penny, or are we just fooling ourselves? Let’s unpack it.

Trevor Lawrence ran for his second touchdown of the game on Monday night with less than a minute to go to lead his Jacksonville Jaguars to a statement win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

While he made a few mistakes throughout the game, he did enough down the stretch to get his team to 4-1, though one analyst still isn’t buying into him as a quarterback.

During a Wednesday appearance on The Ross Tucker Podcast, Steve Fezzik expressed his displeasure with Lawrence.

“I don’t like Trevor Lawrence at all. That final drive was a train wreck. He was horrible, and somehow they score a touchdown,” Fezzik said.

Lawrence has gotten his fair share of criticism since the Jags drafted him first overall in the 2021 draft, and much of it has been warranted due to the injuries and the turnovers.

Now that he is on a massive contract and has a new coach and plenty of weapons around him, expectations are heightened and the time is now for him to keep winning big games.

Jacksonville’s defense has been dangerous through five games, while on offense, Travis Etienne has bounced back and been one of the best running backs in the league.

Lawrence has all the pieces in place to win, and it’s now time for him to take the next step in his development and reward this organization for investing so much into him.

He has five picks and a fumble through five games, but the Jags are 4-1, and that’s far more important.
