Simmons has 32 career interceptions in his NFL seasons, the first eight with the Denver Broncos, who waived him prior to last season.
He signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons and posted 62 tackles and two interceptions in 16 games.
Atlanta’s defense overall wasn’t good, but Simmons proved he can still be one of the best safeties in the league at 31 years old.
