The NHL’s comeback to the Winter Olympics this February is stirring big excitement — it’s been nearly a decade since the pros last laced up for the global stage in Sochi 2014. But here’s the kicker: the marquee venue for ice hockey at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games, the Santa Giulia Ice Hockey Arena, might not be battle-ready come game time. Construction delays have thrown a wrench in the plans, and frankly, there’s no fallback option if the arena misses its deadline. Andrea Francisi, head of Games operations, laid it out straight — “no Plan B.” The stakes couldn’t be higher with competition kicking off as early as February 5th for the women, and the men’s tournament running through February 11-22.
