DeBoer completed his second season as the Crimson Tide’s head coach. While he has done well as the first coach in the post-Nick Saban era with a 20-8 overall record to show for it, Alabama has been unable to get back to the championship heights they enjoyed with Saban.
Last season was a step in the right direction for the Crimson Tide. They finished with an 11-4 record, going 7-1 in its SEC matchups. They got to the quarterfinals of the CFP before falling to the eventual champions Indiana in a 38-3 blowout.
