Breaking: Elite 2027 Wide Receiver’s Surprise Visit to UW Sparks Immediate Buzz
Happy Sunday Husky fans. The Dawgs are about to wrap up their spring practices in a week, and shortly thereafter we will head into official visit season for the Huskies. This week the Dawgs saw a couple of higher profile recruits head to campus.
4 star wide receiver Tre Moore from Pflugerville Weiss HS, TX made his way up to Montlake to check out the Huskies practice midweek. Moore, who is rated as the 22nd best wide receiver int he country by 247sports, is a bigger wideout with a 6’3” and 200 pound frame. The Huskies are set to host him for an official visit in June and they are battling Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, and LSU for his commitment. Getting him up on campus for an unofficial visit is a good sign for the Huskies, but they will need to continue to push for him and make sure they can hold him off from committing through all of his official visits. If that happens I like UW’s chances as wide receiver’s coach Kevin Cummings has built a really good relationship with Moore and his family. Last season he had 85 receptions for 1,443 yards and 19 TD’s.
Another top target for UW recently narrowed his recruitment down to a top 4 of UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, and UW and the Huskies are in the thick of his recruitment. 4 star safety Gavin Williams from Damien HS, CA will visit UW with his second official visit on May 29th and the Huskies have been pushing hard for him for a while. Listed at 6’1” and around 180 pounds Williams is a versatile safety who is rated as a top 100 prospect in the country by 247sports. The Huskies would love to add Williams but it appears Notre Dame leads for him in his recruitment. Things change in recruiting and it will be interesting to see what happens once he starts to take his official visits. Last season Williams had 63 total tackles, 5 TFL’s and 2 interceptions.
4 star safety Malakai Taufoou from Junipero Serra HS, CA also recently narrowed his recruitment down to a to a top 5 list. The Huskies made the list along with BYU, Cal, Oregon, and Penn State. The Huskies have been pushing hard for Taufoou for a while and it looks like it could be a UW and Cal battle right now for him. Taufoou is rated as the 34th best safety in the country by 247Sports and has a bigger frame that the Huskies are looking for (he’s listed at 6’2” and around 200 pounds). Last season he had 46 total tackles, 6 TFL’s and 4 interceptions. The Huskies are set to host Taufoou for an official visit on June 19th and if they can hold him off from committing before that official visit they should have a really good chance to reel him in.
That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp for breaking Husky recruiting news.
