Can Aston Villa Silence the Ghostly North Stand and Break Newcastle’s Twelfth Man Curse?
After another poor start, Villa need the backing of their diminished crowd. The visit of Forest will serve as a very unfair comparison with the second leg of last season’s Europa League, when eventual winners Villa were swept to a second-leg win on a wave of roars.
The situation is different, certainly, but there was little expectation that Villa would get anything from the visit of Arsenal and that is not the case when Forest return.
Without the North Stand, Villa will need to get to grips with a strange environment that can only truly materialise when a football crowd feel like they’re needed.
Villa’s fans will get behind Emery’s team against Forest and the Holte End will play its part as much as ever.
