The interior defensive line was a sore spot for an overachieving Bears defense last season. Lawrence could step in and fix that. Chicago also sees itself as a rising contender, and this would speed up their timeline in that regard. Lawrence’s down season in 2025 defending the run is a bit of a concern, but it also could just be an outlier, and his pass rush ability from the interior remains top-notch. The Bears also have the lowest current cap space in the league, according to OvertheCap, so the front office would have to get to work to make a likely extension fit.
