Recently, the College Sports Commission investigated North Carolina for failing to comply with NIL rules. In July, a former front office employee filed an official complaint against Lombardi. Afterward, Lombardi was placed on paid administrative leave. Lombardi became the general manager the same year Bill Belichick became the head coach in 2024.
The Chicago-based law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP is handling the investigation.
