Falcons’ Tua Tagovailoa Reveals Life-Changing Nick Saban Advice That Transformed His Career After Release
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was thought of as a future franchise quarterback when the Miami Dolphins plucked him from the Alabama football program fifth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. His career didn’t quite go that way, and at the end of last season, the Dolphins released him. During that tough time, Tua says he thought back to the words of his old Crimson Tide coach, Nick Saban.
“It’s hard to go through something like that,” Tagovailoa said of his Dolphins release. “One thing that I ended up taking from Coach Saban that stuck with me as I was going through that process—being benched last year, not being able to finish out the season with the guys, and then, obviously, being released by the Dolphins and being a free agent—was, ‘Things don’t happen to you. They happen for you.’ And that kind of stuck with me.”
