Florida’s Jon Sumrall reveals jaw-dropping truth about juggling Gators and Tulane coaching roles!

Now, reflecting on the decision to stick with Tulane (unlike, for example, Lane Kiffin, who left the aforementioned Rebels before the CFP for LSU), Sumrall made it clear how he felt at the time.

“I was doing 2 jobs for 3 weeks. Dumbest thing I’ve ever done. Stupid. Full disclosure: it was a shit show,” Sumrall said, according to On3’s Brett McMurphy.

Sumrall, 43, has been one of the most successful head coaches in all of college football over the past several years. After taking over Troy before the 2022 season, he led the Trojans to back-to-back conference titles and a 23-4 record, which earned him interest from other programs. He subsequently left Troy for Tulane, where he proceeded to go 20-8, win one conference championship, and make a pair of conference game berths.
