Greg Sankey’s Explosive Take on CFP Controversy Threatens to Shake SEC Championship Game to Its Core

“They (the Big Ten) brought 16 to the table right when we were meeting last year. All those 16 ideas, they weren’t ours,” Sankey said about the Big Ten, per NBC Sports.

Sankey was also asked Monday about his league’s preference for how many teams should be able to compete in the CFP each year.

“I don’t think we’d have a unanimous vote right now,” Sankey said.

Sixteen teams in the CFP is just one proposal reportedly being discussed. Another proposal NCAA officials are rumored to be looking at is a 24-team playoff. That could have heavy implications on conference championship games, like the SEC title contest.
