Is Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith the Next Julio Jones? Mel Kiper Thinks So—Here’s Why Scouts Are Buzzing!
The numbers back that up. In two years, Smith has caught 163 balls for 2,558 yards and 27 touchdowns. He led the Big Ten in receiving in each of his first two seasons and will be the favorite to do so once again in 2026 with quarterback Julian Sayin back in the mix.
Sayin is a part of a loaded 2027 quarterback class that also includes the likes of Arch Manning and Dante Moore, which could push Smith down the draft order even if he is the best player available. However, it’s easy to see a world where he is still a top-three pick among a ton of quarterback-needy teams due to his generational skillset coming out of college.
