Jason Kelce Reveals Shocking Truth Behind Jeff Stoutland’s Controversial Remarks on Kevin Patullo

Early in this week’s New Heights episode with Jason and Travis Kelce, the former Eagles center brought up comments made in last week’s episode by former OL coach Jeff Stoutland. Jason attempted to clarify Stout’s comments about the 2025 offensive struggles, and he and Travis proceeded to explain why play-calling is never on just one guy and that Stoutland would never throw Kevin Patullo, or any other coach, under the bus.

“JASON: I asked him what went wrong last season, and his answer by a lot people — because he said ‘you gotta call the right play in the right defense’ — that’s being made to look like that’s a dig solely at Kevin Patullo.

I really think if you look at the whole quote — if you look at the whole quote, and this is the way Stout is, the whole quote is really referencing the players and the coaches. He talks about executing the plays, execution, and then not calling bad plays into bad defenses.

Although Patullo was the playcaller, I know Stout and everybody’s involved in that game plan. Everybody’s involved in building that thing, so the plays that end up getting called, all he’s saying there is that to be successful in football, it comes down to the players executing and the coaches putting the players in the best position possible. And last year, that didn’t happen. So, that’s what he was trying to say with that quote.“

Travis followed up to explain that the offensive coordinator is just one part of play-calling, and while it’s his job to put everything together, there are so many people involved and in charge of different parts of building the offense — one guy handles the run game, another handles the passing game, one handles red zone situations, etc… The Kansas City TE also pointed out that it’s not fair to put all the blame on one coach, and also noted that Stoutland isn’t the kind of guy who would assign blame like that.

It’s interesting that Kelce would comment on just the one segment that picked up momentum online, as Stoutland’s comments about the tush push and being unable to run it as effectively, were just as notable.

Stoutland has done nothing but express his love and appreciation for the Eagles organization and the City of Philadelphia, but he’s also someone who is very open and honest when asked a question, and occasionally those two things can seem at odds. It doesn’t appear as though the legendary coach is harboring ill will toward the team, and it’s unlikely he’s intentionally trying to point the finger when he’s repeatedly preached the importance of personal accountability — but I’d assume he’s also not going to shoulder blame that wasn’t his.
