Kansas Faces Uncertainty as Star QB Cole Ballard’s Injury Clouds Showdown with Arizona State
Kansas football and Arizona State will make history Saturday. Both conference rivals will play in the first-ever Big 12 game in London, with both playing inside Wembley Stadium. But Jayhawks quarterback Cole Ballard is facing possibly sitting this one out.
Ballard is among three notable KU players who landed on the injury report Wednesday as he’s listed as doubtful. He joins wide receiver Cam Pickett and linebacker Bam Crouch, the latter needing to sit out the Missouri clash too.
Kansas rises as one of the few Big 12 teams dealing with a number of injuries in the early part of the 2026 season. The Jayhawks are currently 1-1 overall after taking a 38-21 loss to their longtime Border War foe the Tigers. That game even featured an eye-grabbing social media video KU released that depicted the history of bad blood between the programs.
