Michigan QB Bryce Underwood Finally Reveals the Untold Story Behind His Jaw-Dropping Behind-the-Back Pass

“It just happened, no real thought behind it,” Underwood said. “Sometimes when I’m playing around with my teammates and things like that, I will try stuff, throwing with my left hand, throwing it behind me, just letting the moment happen. On that one, when I went to the sideline, the other quarterbacks were looking at me with their eyes just huge. I’m like, ‘I have nothing to say. My reflexes took over.’”

Underwood struggled some in his freshman year, especially in big games. In the loss to Oklahoma, he completed just nine of 24 passes for 142 yards without a touchdown. Meanwhile, he was just eight for 18 against Ohio State for 63 yards. He had just one yard on the ground as well, while throwing an interception and not accounting for a touchdown. Regardless, Underwood learned from his true-freshman season being QB 1 in Ann Arbor.
