The last three weeks don’t erase the first three months when the Leafs were an underperforming team that couldn’t find answers to major problems, even firing assistant coach Marc Savard along the way. They’ve turned things around in a big way recently. Auston Matthews is looking like a superstar again, the power play is no longer a back hole and the team is playing a connected brand of hockey at both ends.
