The Bruins lost Iamaleava to an ACL injury he suffered when he was tackled by two defenders in a game against the Oregon Ducks on Oct. 11. He had 162 passing yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, while completing 10 of his 17 throws in that game, but UCLA football still managed to take down the then-No. 13 Ducks at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.

Senior quarterback Ty Dieffenbach has taken up the starting role under center for UCLA in the absence of Iamaleava, and he’s been steady so far for the Bruins — at least steady enough to keep the Bruins undefeated. Head coach Bob Chesney’s Bruins are 7-0 overall and 5-0 in Big Ten play, so far in the 2026 season.
