Rapper Plies is known for his HBCU athletics advocacy and gave a major endorsement to South Carolina State football coach Chennis Berry. Berry has had a phenomenal three seasons at South Carolina State, resulting in two straight MEAC championships and two appearances in the Celebration Bowl, including a win in the 2025 edition.
